There is nothing to realise and become a Buddha!
Almost 2600 years ago in the province of western Nepal a child was born to the royal parents and his name was Siddhartha Gautama. And he was only son therefore, his father (a king) wanted to secure him until he got kingdom of his legacy, but he secretly left his palace, wife, and his child when he was 29 years old and after 7 years of wandering into the jungle, in the views of some people he became an enlightened being (Buddha). Since 2600 years generation to generation we have listening this story and billions of people believe in this story as it was really happened once. But scientifically it is a questionable chapter that it is a fiction or it is a fact? To understand this very well we have to know that so called human is just an image of thought process of brain. So, Siddhartha Gautama was an indicating name of a physical body that was born in the royal family who has brain and thought process therefore Siddhartha Gautama was not a real entity. In this case so called human is nothing but a kind of biotic- robot and their total control are in the hands of aliens because our earth is a kind of laboratory for aliens. What I am trying to tell you that there is nothing to realise for so called humans or to become a Buddha therefore it is a big question that who revealed about Buddha to the world? The answer is; Marco Polo who heard the story of Buddha in Sri Lanka in 1292. In this case it would be a fictional story like Ramayana and Mahabharata. If you love to follow this fictional story then it is your freedom and it is none of other business. But we have to always remember that as a human nothing is there in him to know and become Buddha or enlightened person also in the limitless universe there is nothing to achieve except decay because human body carries just trillions of cells (insects).
